San Diego Comic-Con 2012

I didn’t have this website until this year (2017), but I wanted a place to collect my Comic-Con memories, something I could look back on and enjoy.

SDCC 2012 was Paul’s first year. I lucked out with hotels, and this was the first year I got a good one: Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina. The rooms here are HUGE, and we had a balcony with a city view. It was really nice we had two queen beds.. one for us and one for all the swag we picked up. I wish I had taken more photos of the room. I haven’t had the privilege of getting a reservation here during SDCC again.

SDCC 2012 swag
A lot of the swag was really good this year. Stuff I would have kept, but I don’t like being a hoarder, so I sold most of it on eBay and made enough to cover the cost of our trip. I kind of wish I kept some of it.

This year’s Con was great. It was noticeably more crowded, but there was also so much more free swag, and it was good swag, too. And it was the first year I did off-site activations, or maybe it was the first year I noticed off-site activations? They had The Batmobile (The Batmobile Documentary) on display, The Walking Dead Escape– Live the Apocalypse at Petco Park, Grimm forest, set up fun activities in the Petco parking lot like ParaNorman and Avengers training, and had hot spots downtown in the Gaslamp area. The city was bustling with excitement. It was a great first Con for Paul.

This year’s AMC The Walking Dead Con floor photo op was awesome! We got to pose as one of Michonne’s zombies.

So many cool things at this year’s Con: got a look at the Mattel’s Hover Board, I bought myself a Derpy Hooves, attended the Archer panel, Wildred panel, American Dad panel, Vampire Diaries panel (this one was for Paul, I don’t watch that show lol), True Blood panel, another Robert Kirkman signing, saw the cast of Breaking Bad (Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul!) as they were doing a signing, Supernatural signing, The Following (Kevin Bacon!) cast signing, a lot of toys, cosplay, and just so many fun things to see and do. Plus, this being my first year with Paul made it extra special!

Can’t wait for 2013!
