San Diego Comic-Con International 2015

I didn’t have this website until this year (2017), but I wanted a place to collect my Comic-Con memories, something I could look back on and enjoy.

San Diego, Wednesday, July 9, 2015 – Sunday, July 12, 2015 — A Conan-centric Con. My sixth year at SDCC and the first year I didn’t attend any panels. There were just too many things to do, but #BCE (Best Con Ever)!

Walking the Con floor. Second pic is the line into the exhibit hall. The entrance was around the corner and down the escalators. Waiting in line after line is the name of the game at SDCC.

This year was the debut of Fear the Walking Dead, with the new series starting Sunday, August 23, 2015 on AMC. So naturally, they had an offsite activation for it.

Once again, HBO transformed the space across the Omni Hotel into an off-site adventure for Game of Thrones fanatics with Experience the Realm.

  • Interactive Sword Training: Wield a replica of Arya Stark’s wooden training sword to hit targets on a digital projection, then receive a custom artistic portrait based on your strikes.
  • Epic Photo & GIF Opportunities: Pose on the Iron Throne, face off against dragons, or transform into a White Walker.
  • Costume & Art Displays: Authentic show costumes and fan art galleries.
  • Exclusive Merch: Limited-edition T-shirts and other collectibles.

The line to get in was extra long, as expected.

Wearing an Iron Throne dress while sitting on the Iron Throne. I did that on purpose.

The Walking Dead still had its presence on the Con floor.

The MTV Fandom Fest party is starting to become the best part of SDCC!

Checked out the FX Fearless Arena — Fargo snow globe (This was a trick– it was 150F inside!), American Horror Story: Hotel (a two-story hotel!), The Bastard Executioner challenge, Archer photo ops, The Simpsons Kwik-E-Mart themed food truck (Not So Very Cherry and Give ‘Em the Razz Squishees), Adult Swim on the Green (I actually made it across the rope ladder — all that yoga balance and core training paid off — and I smacked the Uvula!), and we were chosen to appear in a Lexus x Adult Swim commercial!

Cosplay + Con floor celeb sightings and autographs — The Colony signing with Josh Holloway, Sarah Wayne Callies, Carlton Cuse; Chris Hardwick and Felicia Day; Ashley Eckstein: voice actor of Ashoka signing a poster for my niece; cast of Minority Report; cast of Game of Thrones.

CONAN BINGO: NOT YOUR GRANDMA’S BINGO! (click the link for a full recap)

So many cool things to do and see this year!

We made it on Adam Savage’s Twitter!

AND I MET SOPHIE TURNER!

Thank you, SDCC for an awesome 2015!
