I didn’t have this website until this year (2017), but I wanted a place to collect my Comic-Con memories, something I could look back on and enjoy.
San Diego, Wednesday, July 20, 2016 – Sunday, July 24, 2016, — This year, I made cookies for the Con, primarily for Instagram photos. After being handled day after day while I worked on getting the perfect shot, they weren’t exactly edible anymore. Naturally, one of the cookies had to be Conan, the greatest entertainer of our time. A little bummed the icing bled on my SDCC cookie.

Lately, my Con experiences are all about Conan and his shows. This year, I even got my 15 seconds of fame when he walked down the aisle as The Flaming C, lol. They also did a skit with an audience shot, and I happened to be sitting right behind Darth Vader. We ended up doing two days of Conan shows this year, and it was an absolute blast.

And every year at SDCC, I never miss out on a Walking Dead photo op.

Mr. Robot took us straight into Elliot Alderson’s world with a quiet, immersive offsite experience. Rather than flashy signage or loud promotions, the environment recreated familiar locations from the show, including Elliot’s apartment and gritty fsociety spaces, complete with dim lighting, retro computers, and lived-in props. The attention to detail made it feel authentic, like stepping into the show itself rather than a themed attraction.
The pacing and tone mirrored Mr. Robot’s storytelling style. We were encouraged to linger, observe, and absorb the space, creating a sense of unease that stood in sharp contrast to the usual chaos of SDCC. By trusting us to engage with the mood and subtle details, the activation extended the narrative rather than just promoting the show, leaving a lasting impression as one of SDCC’s most memorable immersive experiences.

Suicide Squad brought one of the most immersive offsite activations of the weekend. Warner Bros and Samsung transformed part of the Hard Rock Hotel into a recreation of Belle Reve penitentiary, the infamous prison from the movie. Stepping inside felt like we had entered the world of the Squad, with detailed jail cells and Harley Quinn-themed areas that made the space feel alive.
The activation was packed with interactive elements. We experienced a virtual reality scene alongside Squad members, took photos in the prison set, created custom characters and short shareable videos, and took home personalized skull-themed shirts.

And after seven years of attending SDCC, and I finally saw Grant Imahara on the con floor!!

Cosplay, panels, toys, activations, photo ops… thanks, SDCC for a great 2016!
