I was invited to my very first YouTube Creator event, and it ended up being such a fun experience. It was a screening of Wicked for Good. I never saw the first movie, but I’ve seen the musical plenty of times. I know it is not the same, but at least I had an idea of what the story was about.
YouTube hosted a special early screening for Houston creators, and they really made it feel special. When we checked in, we received YouTube Creator lanyards, cute 20th anniversary pins, and free popcorn, candy, and drinks for the movie. I arrived a little later than most guests (still on time, just not early enough to snag a good seat) and ended up in the very front row. Keeping my neck tilted up the entire time was a workout, and since I did not weigh enough to keep the recliner leaned back, my thighs were burning from pushing my feet into the floor trying to relieve some of the tension. The movie was cute, and because I remembered the musical, I was able to follow along easily.
After the screening, every creator and their guest received a really nice YouTube sweatshirt in either Wicked green or pink. I picked the green one since it is my favorite color.
Such a fun way to watch a movie. Thank you, YouTube!
