Wow. Just wow. The Stranger Things Season 5 series finale finally aired yesterday, and I am still processing everything. After nearly ten years of following Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will, and the rest of Hawkins, saying goodbye feels unreal.
The finale doesn’t hold back. The Mind Flayer’s final threat escalates into full chaos, and the entire group comes together for one last showdown. Watching Eleven push her powers as far as she does in the finale was one of the moments I was most invested in. Her confrontation with the Upside Down feels intense and emotional without tipping into over-the-top territory. Max’s story continues to carry real weight, and there were moments with her that really got to me. Will’s role in the finale is bigger than I expected. After everything he’s gone through, he steps up in a surprising way that helps the group during the final conflict, and it was satisfying to see him contribute meaningfully and play a pivotal part in the action. These moments are a reminder of just how much the characters have endured.
Hopper, Joyce, Steve, Nancy, Robin, Jonathan, and the rest of the gang all get moments to shine, and none of it feels forced. Watching everyone work together brings back that familiar Stranger Things feeling and highlights how deep these relationships have become. The Upside Down is finally confronted head-on, with visuals that are some of the strongest the series has delivered. And the rooftop moment with Steve, Nancy, Jonathan, and Robin was especially emotional. It was quieter than most of the finale, but it hit so hard.
The final scene is calm and reflective, which feels like the right way to end things. Hawkins survives, but it’s clear that this chapter is closed. I laughed, cried, and felt that rush of nostalgia.. from the music cues to the small callbacks to earlier seasons. The finale balances heartbreak, relief, and warmth in a way that makes saying goodbye difficult, but ultimately feels earned.
One last episode. One last crawl. One last adventure. And what a finale it was.
