Moxie’s Grill & Bar

I will if you will…

I will if you will
Good lighting inside Moxie’s at 6pm (we like to eat early).

I’ve been to Moxie’s Grill & Bar four times, and this is the first time I remembered to take a photo by this IG worthy wall. My mind is always focused on getting a great food shot that I forget I want a photo of myself, too. When you walk into the restaurant, the hostess will be to your right. Turn to your left, and you’ll see this wall.

The one thing about Moxie’s that stands out to me (besides their extremely attractive employees) is their outstanding service. Every time I’ve been there, they go above and beyond in making me feel welcomed and valued.

The restaurant is very hip and trendy. The environment is a lot of fun, and people go there to be seen. So wear something fancy, and have a good time. Just try not to ogle at the hostesses too hard.

Now on to the food. Here’s what we ordered:

We ordered everything.
Everything. We ordered everything.

Appetizers: We started off with the Sushi Cones, Tuna Poke in a Jar, Poutine, Crispy Dry Rib Tips and a Caesar Salad.

Sushi Cones- tempura shrimp with fresh avocado, pea shoots, nori crisps + sesame chili ponzu. $13
Sushi Cones- tempura shrimp with fresh avocado, pea shoots, nori crisps + sesame chili ponzu. Fun to eat, had a good overall flavor. A little too much ginger in it for me (I’m not a big fan of ginger). The tempura shrimp was good. $13

Poutine- fresh cut fries, hot beef gravy & quebec cheese curds, fresh chives. Probably my favorite appetizer at Moxie's. Who doesn't love cheese curds on fries? $9

Tuna Poke In A Jar- sushi grade ahi, avocado, fresh tomatoes, nori crisps, ginger, spring onions & ponzu. The most beautiful of the appetizers I've had here. Loved all the avocado with the tuna. Warning: Lots of ginger in this one, too. $14

Crispy Dry Ribs Tips- pork rib tips with sea salt & cracked pepper. We got these with the biryani rub and the salt & pepper. Definitely get the biryani rub! $12.50

For our mains, Paul got the Prime Rib Eye with garlic butter shrimp and an east coast lobster tail. I got the Butcher’s Cut Steak Sandwich.

Prime Rib Eye- 16 oz medium rare with garlic butter shrimp and East coast lobster tail. $70
Prime Rib Eye- 16 oz medium rare with garlic butter shrimp, East coast lobster tail, veggies and a baked potato. The steak was nicely prepared and the lobster tail dipped in butter was drool worthy. ($45 + $7 + $18) $70 total

Butcher's Cut Steak Sandwich- open faced with sautéed mushrooms, caramelized & crispy onions, sriracha bbq sauce, fresh arugula, garlic ciabatta. Loved this and the crispy onions on top. $18.75

Finally, we finished dinner off with the Salted Caramel & Pecan Cheesecake for dessert. Their dessert menu is simple with only three options: Salted Caramel & Pecan Cheesecake, White Chocolate Brownie, or Sticky Toffee Pudding. I’ve had two of the three– White Chocolate Brownie once, Sticky Toffee Pudding twice.  The Sticky Toffee Pudding is amazing, so get that if you haven’t tried it before.

Salted Caramel & Pecan Cheesecake- caramel scented cheesecake with fresh blackberries & orange segments. Cute and delicious. $8
Salted Caramel & Pecan Cheesecake- caramel scented cheesecake with fresh blackberries & orange segments. Cute and delicious. If you’re full and would rather get the mini size version for half the price, just FYI this full size isn’t so big that you wouldn’t be able to finish it IMO. Also, this is gluten free (bottom crust is made of pecans). $8

Here’s a photo of the Sticky Toffee Pudding from a previous visit. It’s so good I had to post it.

Sticky Toffee Pudding- nutritional information warm, with candied pecans, buttery caramel sauce, bourbon crème anglaise & vanilla bean ice cream. A behemoth of a dessert. You'll definitely want to share this one. $9

And here I am with our table full of food, pretending to eat it all.

.. except I did eat it all.
.. except I did eat it all.

Proof:

I eat everything I order.

I couldn’t finish all the fries (there was a lot of them), so I took that home. We also had some leftover Crispy Dry Rib Tips and got those boxed up. Everything else that we knew wouldn’t be great reheated, we ate. I might be petite, but I can eat.

Thank you, Moxie’s, for a wonderful dinner!
